Tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis that most often affects the lungs but can also spread to other organs of the body. Tuberculosis spreads through the air from person to person. When an infected person sneezes, coughs, or spits, the particles are spilled into the air. It is a curable and preventable disease. Symptoms include a cough that lasts for more than3 weeks, chest pain, weight loss, loss of appetite, fever, night sweats, coughing out blood, weakness. Treatment involves taking medication for 6 to 9 months. If a person does not get treated, he or she might spread the disease to others. The disease might spread to other organs like the spine, brain, joints, etc. If it is severe can lead to the death of a person.
