Ovarian cancers develop and grow at varying rates over time. Some types of ovarian cancer may grow slowly over years, while others can progress very quickly within months. It is important to know that, in general, the growth rate of an ovarian cancer depends on the properties of cancer cells and on tumor type.
One analysis suggests that the growth will vary according to the cancer’s stage. Those in early stage would double approximately every 4 months. However, in advanced stages this would happen in 2.5 months.
Ovarian cancer is highly progressive and can progress from early stage to advanced stage in a year.
