There is a limited understanding of this learning disorder in the dyslexic individuals as well as parents, teachers and caregivers. These children may see limited success despite a lot of hard work which can be discouraging and frustrating. Excessive pressure to excel without the right support or training and the individuals' ability to meet expectations adds to these feelings.

Because it is a learning disorder and it interferes with learning. It can lead to lower academic performance. Many kids who don't get diagnosed may be labelled as stupid or lazy due to performance. Because it impacts reading, it can impact performance in almost all the subjects.
