Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder characterised by excessive weight loss due to fear of excessive weight gain. It is associated with the following complications. Abnormally thin physique. Fatigue, Insomnia, thin and weak hair, lower blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythm, etc.
Bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa are associated with a variety of medical problems: Cardiovascular Starvation-associated pruritus Gastrointestinal Constipation Refeeding pancreatitis Endocrine and Metabolic Pancytopenia due to starvation Decreased sedimentation rate Neurologic Cerebral atrophy
Anemia, osteoporosis (bone loss), increased risk of fractures, loss of muscles and heart problems i.e. arrhythmias & heart failure.
