Protein-rich foods can help to promote lactation (breast milk supply). This is particularly true for high biological value proteins. These are proteins that naturally contain all the essential amino acids (protein building blocks) that cannot be made by the body. All animal proteins are high biological value whereas, tofu is the only plant-based high biological value protein. Including these in your meals or as snacks can help to stimulate breast milk formation.

There are many remedies to increase breast milk supply. Fenugreek, blessed thistle, fish soup, soy milk, green papaya with pork rib soups are some of the classic foods to help increase milk supply. Snacks like lactation cookies that is made from brewer's yeast, wheat germs and oats are also recommended.

Since breast milk is made from blood, it is important to increase blood volume and improve blood quality. Yogurt is recommended because, like cheese, it is rich in calcium and protein. It is even better when taken with nuts and dried fruits.
