Turmeric is a widely used spice that has been consumed throughout history to treat inflammation. Its active component is Curcumin, which when combined with black pepper and a fat such as coconut oil, olive or milk, will make the compound more bioavailable, and may increase the efficacy in the body.

The answer to this question depends on the goal of consuming turmeric. Turmeric in general can be consumed on food as a spice or orally ingested in pill or powder form. The literature suggest that the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric are improved when consumed with pepper.

Turmeric can be consumed in various ways. One of my favourites is micing it with cinnamon, honey and milk to make a turmeric latte. Be sure to use a milk with some fat in it to ensure that the turmeric is absorbed well.
