Severe obesity is treated by Bariatric surgery which includes Vertical banded gastroplasty, Roux-en-Y (RYGB), Gastric banding. Obesity can be a result of a sedentary lifestyle or endocrine disorders such as Hypothalamic disease, Polycystic ovary syndrome, Cushing's syndrome, Hypothyroidism or using drugs like steroids.
